Caspar David Friedrich. Where it all started

Caspar David Friedrich spent more than 40 years living in Dresden, where he created his most important works and engaged intensively with contemporary art. Friedrich found his inspiration in nature, especially during walking tours in the regions around Dresden. To mark the 250th anniversary of his birth, the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden are devoting a major exhibition to him in the Albertinum and the Kupferstich-Kabinett. It will feature numerous loans from German and European museums, including the Hamburger Kunsthalle, the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz, the Museum Folkwang, the Museo Caspar david friedrich.
